Abel is the brother of the bookseller Peterson, who was hallowed and is only seen in the story as a Larva Saint, serving The Waxen Scrivener.

Background[]
He and Peterson used to ride their motorcycles around the territories in the Peninsula, with their tomes and record-books. They would chart and mark the territories of each parochial god they encountered. Those records have either rotted away or been burnt.[1]
After the war, Abel became increasingly despondent. He has been hallowed by the Waxen Scrivener, although it remains unclear whether Peterson hallowed him or Abel hallowed himself.[1]
It seems that many people in the area are aware of Abel's current existence, as Daggler cruelly enquires about him to Peterson.[2]
